Universities in New York – Community Colleges (SUNY)
SUNY community colleges can be an excellent way for international students to save money. Community colleges offer university-level courses at a reduced cost. SUNY community colleges offer certificates, micro-credentials, and associate’s degrees. You can transfer to a university after earning your associate’s degree. An associate’s degree takes about two years. You can also transfer after earning 60 units.
An associate’s degree or 60 units is about half the units you need for a bachelor’s degree. When you graduate from the new university, it will not state that you started at a community college. Your degree will be from the university you transfer to. So, that means you can start at a community college and graduate from Columbia University. Your bachelor’s degree would be from Columbia University.
